February in America is National Heart Month. A month where red is worn in support of a loved one fighting heart disease. Heart disease causes over 17 million deaths a year. Along with an active lifestyle, a healthy diet is key in lowering your risk of heart disease. High in omega-3s wild caught Alaskan salmon is a healthy heart safe food. Just one serving is enough to lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol and lower your risk of heart disease. Not only is salmon high in omega-3s it is high in vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin! If you live in the Pacific Northwest or other areas that do not recieve high amounts of sunshine, you are likely deficient in this vital nutrient. A tasty way to increase your vitamin D intake during the grey wintery months is a healthy meal of wild Alaskan Salmon!
Until next time,
